Yosemite, California, USA
"In the cold and snow of winter, there’s a spring that waits to be." Natalie Sleeth might have been talking about Yosemite's snow plants when she penned these lyrics. Snow plants are saprophytes: they have no photosynthetic ability. (They're not green, are they?) On the coniferous forest floor, these 'putrid plants' draw their nutrients from rotting detritus alone.
