What would an urban planner call this? A signalized intersection: signals to regulate motor vehicle flow and signals to regulate pedestrian flow. The signals don't really do the regulation, though. People regulate themselves. In Singapore, they do a pretty good job, but in other parts of the world, that may not be the case. [2011]
