Merida's city hall, or
palacio municipal, was built on this site in the 1700s, but it has been rebuilt and refurbished many times since then. It overlooks the Plaza Grande and squares off against the Cathedral. The best view of the plaza and the streets leading off into the barrios is from this balcony. [2013]
