Brussels, Belgium

Tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses: humble harbingers of spring looking for buyers on Brussels' grand market square. Hard to believe they're not native Belgians, but migrants from the mountains of inner Asia, where growing conditions were so harsh they needed the boost provided by underground food-storage organs, otherwise known as bulbs.
