The fenghuang, or Chinese phoenix, perches on the roofs of most temples in Taiwan, usually in a yin-yang relationship with her companion, the dragon. She has been part of Chinese culture for over 4,000 years and symbolizes just about every positive virtue of humanity. This Taipei temple is devoted to Matzu.
