Outsiders call it the Blue Mosque because of the blue Iznik tile of the interior, but even the exterior seems to turn blue under a summer sky. Officially, it is the Sultanahmet Camii. Its domed and half-domed architecture was modeled after the nearby Byzantine church of Hagia Sophia. If you are looking for a definition of Ottoman architecture, this is it.
