Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA

With a grid of streets and an elaborate canal system, Holyoke was one of the country's first planned industrial towns. Along its canals arose prospering paper and textile mills. Deindustrialization came to Holyoke decades ago, and the old factories are now becoming condos, apartments, and shopping centers. [2013]
