Unsettling, isn't it? Water is the symbol of life and Godliness. Water spouting from a serpent's mouth becomes venom, the symbol of death and devilish evil. [2005]
This is an animated snake (it revolves on its tail) at the "Fontaine Stravinsky" or "Fontaine des Automates" by the Centre Georges Pompidou. The conception and sculptures is a joint realization of Swiss Jean Tinguely (1925 - 1991) and French Niki de Saint Phalle (1930 - 2002); both were painters and sculptors.
A lot of fun to watch all the sculpture in motion and spouting water at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2eDmJ2JImA
