Vaduz, Liechtenstein

Finding maps on the landscape can become a hobby. Whenever you see one, take a picture. This map seems to have withstood the test of time well. It still looks relatively contemporary. The dude, however, seems to be caught in a time-warp. [1984]

  1. It's been over a decade since I was in Liechtenstein, and maybe this map wasn't yet in place.

It looks like it's unusual in having north on the left. Am I reading it right?

    1. See that year in brackets at the end of the caption. That is the year I took the photo. I suspect this map is long gone. If you look to the left you can see the list of labels -- click a country and you can see all the photos I have posted for that country. And, yes, east is at the top of this map. It is unusual to us, but in medieval Europe, most maps were oriented east. Our word, oriented (which now means 'north at the top') comes from the Latin word for east - orient.
