This house is sited on a narrow barrier formation between two coastal lagoons: Lake Ponchartrain and Lake St. Catherine. By building on pilings, not only is there some protection from flooding, but the view is also better. Let's just hope the house is able to withstand hurricane-force winds. [2014]
