San Francisco, California, USA

Chinese immigrants began arriving in the 1850s, making San Francisco's Chinatown the oldest in North America. Today, the Dragon Gate marks the ethnic enclave's southern entrance. It was built in 1970 and carries a quote from Sun Yat-sen: "All under heaven is for the good of the people." Even those dragons? [2016]
