Charlton, Massachusetts, USA

The sun is setting on helianthus. A few last into the fall and usually end their lives facing east, ready to honor the rising sun, a god to them. He gave them life and his own name: sunflowers. They even look like their dad, don't they? And, when they were younger, they followed his daily path across the sky. [2013]
