The Parthenon was built 2500 years ago, but it still commands the world's envy. As a definition of Western civilization, it has been replicated again and again on every inhabited continent. That diffusionary process began with Alexander the Great. Albeit from Macedonia, he loved (and spread) the culture of the Hellenes.
