Tel Aviv, Israel
Israel's original port was Jaffa, but there was no light tower there until the mid-1800s when Jaffa oranges established themselves as a major Ottoman export from Palestine. More ships equaled more need for navigational assistance, and a lighthouse was built. Today's it serves only as a day marker.
