Kaohsiung, Taiwan

In times past, 'May Day' marked the beginning of summer. Now, in Taiwan and around the world, it is a day off work to celebrate doing work. In America, however, the first of May means nothing. Its unredeemed pagan roots and appropriation by the Communists as International Labor Day negated any value it had. [2011]
